Life Coaching

Sometimes we are ready to make a change in our lives, but we just can’t seem to do it. The noise of societal norms and pressures, as well as fears generated by past experiences can drown out our inner wisdom and courage. We get stuck in a cycle of thought or action that inhibits well-being and creativity.

Feeling stuck is human.

All of us exist, to some degree, in patterns and cycles. These patterns are the framework not only for our activities and relationships, but also for our thoughts and emotions. A pattern or cycle may begin as a sensible response to a specific condition, but if unchecked it becomes a holding pattern. Inside that holding pattern, we get stuck and are unable to move forward because the pattern has so much momentum.

This is where coaching comes in.

Coaching invites us into a different perspective. It gets us in touch with our inner wisdom. It encourages insight and epiphany. It moves us out of the mental and emotional patterns we’ve been holding, and into a realm of new possibilities and transformation. And once we truly embody a new way of being, there’s no going back. Growth only happens in one direction: the direction of evolution.

I had vague hopes that coaching would be ‘helpful’ at this point in my life; I had no idea how profoundly transformative it would be.  I gained insights and perspectives that I wish I had understood literally decades ago.” – Barbara W., PhD, African American History Scholar and Grant Writer

I work with people who are:

Going through a major life transition * Navigating difficulty in personal or professional relationships * Desiring more meaning or integrity in their lives * Starting a new business or creative endeavor * Overcoming grief and loss * Interested in deepening in confidence and self-love * Interested in spiritual growth, and developing contemplative practices * Wanting to make the world a better place to live in * Wanting to be a stronger leader and change-maker in your business or community

“Karen’s ability to listen and understand and then offer suggestions, guidance, and ideas has been tremendously helpful in my effort to sort out my struggles and roadblocks in both my personal relationships and as I begin to set some new goals for the next chapter in my life. She is concise and clear and helped me to distill my jumbled thoughts so that I could get down to some specific work. She is lovingly grounding.” – Cheryl S., Actress

How I work.

We start our work with a thorough intake, and then develop goals for our time together. In our sessions, I will create a safe and supportive space for you to investigate deeply the blocks and questions that are arising in your life. I will offer inquiries and practices to help you understand the landscape of your heart and mind more deeply, and to open into possibilities in every area of your life. My many years of training in mindfulness practice allows me to be completely present with whatever is coming up for you, and consistently guide us on a path to your highest potential.

I believe that we are all connected, and that when one person is not living the fullest most courageous expression of themselves, it affects us all. In this way, I view the development of insight through coaching as a doorway into a more meaningful and conscious way of living for you and for the world.

“Coaching with Karen has been a wonderful experience. It has given me several tools and strategies to manage some pretty significant life transitions. She has a unique ability to articulate complex topics in a way that is understandable and compassionate. From the very first session, her intuition was remarkable. I felt like she deeply understood me and where I was coming from. Would highly recommend her work for anyone looking to learn more about themselves or gain strategies for dealing with the difficult things that life throws our way.” Summer L., Nutritionist
