At its heart, yoga is more than a physical practice; it is a practice of evolution and liberation. But to truly understand what this means, we must go beyond the physical postures and explore the subtler philosophical and spiritual tenants of this ancient tradition, while also investigating how these teachings relate to our modern lives. The word “mindfulness” has become common in today’s yoga classrooms. But what does “mindfulness” really mean? How do we incorporate dharma (wisdom teaching) into the yoga classroom? How can we help our students tap into insight and surrender during practice? In this week-long immersion, you’ll learn:

  • the four essential pillars of contemplative practice, including mindfulness
  • why meditation is essential (and how it can help) in this age of distraction
  • how to start or enliven your personal home meditation practice
  • what “mindfulness” is, and how to incorporate it into meditation and yoga practice
  • how to practice different types of meditation (insight, concentration, compassion) from both Yoga and Buddhist paths
  • what “evolution” means in a spiritual context, and why it’s an important part of practice
  • how to incorporate contemplative teachings while teaching Vinyasa, Restorative, and Yin
  • how to weave philosophy that you love (ancient and modern) into your classes with ease and authenticity

This is a teacher training, but experienced students are invited to register, as well. Tuition is $700, or $625 if you register by 9/1
